Our Vision
Healthy, Thriving Communities Across Louisiana
The vision of the Whole Health Louisiana initiative is for our state’s children, families, and community members to be healthy and thriving, not limited by who they are or where they live. The movement to address and prevent childhood adversity has long been underway in Louisiana. However, the focus has primarily been on specific sectors or stages of development with limited coordination across multiple coalitions and working groups.
The Whole Health Louisiana initiative systematically addresses the drivers and impacts of childhood adversity through the integration of trauma-informed and healing-centered approaches in our state’s systems of care and support for children and families. Addressing these issues through prevention and early intervention promotes the health and well-being of all of Louisiana’s children, families, and communities. The goal of Whole Health Louisiana is not to duplicate existing efforts, but rather enhance them by raising public awareness, amplifying evidence-based policies, sharing data for future decisions, and supporting the workforce to expand trauma-informed efforts statewide.
