Planning for the Future: Housing and Long-Term Supports
Hosted by the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council as a part of their Transition to Adulthood Workshop Series
Choosing where to live is one of the most important decisions in the transition to adulthood. This workshop helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), families, and
support teams explore a range of housing options and long-term supports that promote independence, safety, and quality of life. Participants will learn about different living arrangements—such as living with family, supported apartments, and group homes—and the types of services that help people succeed in their daily lives. The session will also focus on practical decision-making skills, including what questions to ask when considering housing options and who can provide guidance and local resources. By the end of the workshop, participants will feel more informed, confident, and prepared to plan for a successful and person-centered future.
This series takes place over one day, but consists of two separate sessions.
